A campaign to raise awareness for domestic violence against women. Focusing on police' inaction to low level breaches by their ex or current partner on bail.
Client: White Ribbon Australia
White Ribbon Australia is a registered charity that is fighting to prevent men's violence against women and children. They want to raise awareness for police inaction towards 'low-level breaches' of intervention orders between a victim and her abusive ex-partner.
Breaches can be as simple as waiting at the victim's property line but not entering, this is the offenders testing police response, ignored breaches escalate to serious violence against women and children. The Picket Fence Campaign is the visual solution and strategy to help White Ribbon Australia create awareness and prevent violence against women.
The visual identity translates fear and vulnerability experienced by victims through deliberately unsettling, child-like visual language. Hand-drawn illustrations depict male offenders as monsters, transforming an invisible threat into a recognisable, graphic image. The confronting subject matter represented through innocent illustrations reinforces the perspective of the children and women living in fear of domestic violence.
A bold colour palette and rough, authoritative typography add urgency and tension to the campaign, creating a visual language that is difficult to overlook. These elements work together to communicate the seriousness and threat of police inaction while evoking empathy and anger from the audience.
The Picket Fence Campaign ultimately aims to turn awareness into action, encouraging viewers to join the movement and sign the petition for stronger police protection against domestic violence.
